MICK Wadsworth believes that boot-room aides Micky Barron and Ritchie Humphreys have a major role to play in the future success of Hartlepool United.
The pair, who have both now enjoyed testimonial seasons at Victoria Park, were at the boss’s side last term having been elevated to his backroom staff following the departure of Chris Turner in August.
Barron is still charged with the task of overseeing reserve-team matters but his senior responsibilities have broadened during the past 12 months and he is the closest thing Wadsworth has to an assistant.
Humphreys, too, is now a trusted member of the manager’s inner circle and will continue in both a playing and coaching capacity this season.
And Wadsworth told SportMail that the duo have excelled since being shouldered with extra authority last summer.
“I like working with young coaches and seeing them develop, because I’ve been there myself,” said the Pools first-team coach.
“I like giving them opportunity and giving them responsibility.
“And I have to say in Ritchie and Micky they have really responded to that and have gone from strength to strength this year.”
