MICK Wadsworth looks set to make his first entry into the January transfer market this week with skipper Sam Collins a major doubt for Saturday's visit of Dagenham and Redbridge.
The 33-year-old defender will be given until tomorrow to prove his fitness but it is thought this weekend's League One clash will come too soon.
Collins picked up a knee injury just two minutes into the New Year's Day victory over Oldham and it had been feared he was set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
But scan results revealed the problem wasn't as serious as first thought and the date with the Daggers was penciled in for his return.
Wadsworth told SportMail last week that Collins' speedy recovery meant a loan move for a replacement had been put on hold.
But the word coming out of the Pools' camp is that the centre-back's knee needs more time before it is ready for match action and that could mean a new face at Victoria Park come the weekend.
"I'll be looking at a couple of players this week," said Wadsworth in the wake of Saturday's FA Cup defeat at Watford.
