HARTLEPOOL United were unlucky to be held to a 2-2 draw at Bristol Rovers on Saturday. Here are Roy Kelly’s player ratings
Flinders 7: Had little chance with both goals, but otherwise was in commanding form.
Duckworth 6: Part of a largely-solid defensive effort and got forward a lot. Even had a sight of goal in the second half.
Baldwin 8: Magnificent for 89 minutes only to be shrugged off the ball ahead of Rovers equaliser. But one mistake should not spoil an excellent game
Burgess 7: A little like Baldwin, his performance was superb with just one exception when he was unable to net a free header which would have made it 3-1.
Austin 6: Did not get forward much but, again, did his primary job by defending well. Set the wheels in motion with his long ball forward for the Pools equaliser.
Franks 7: Another assist and almost another goal as he did some good work in the away half. Worked tirelessly but it would be nice to see him try to beat his marker now and again.
Walton 7: Much maligned by some fans but a fine game in the middle, whether defensively or offensively. Involved in some of Pools best moments in second half and nearly scored. Had a had, or rather a head in the second James goal
Dolan 6: Steady again in centre and enjoyed a fair bit of the ball.
Compton 6: Some very good free-kick and corner deliveries but needs to brush up on crosses from open play.
Monkhouse 7: Another fine shift with some good link-up play and got back to defend too. Had an assist in the first James goal.
James 8: Two cracking finishes and he deserved a hat-trick, only to be denied it by a good Mildenhall save. Had defence constantly on their toes.
Collins 6 (on for Franks, 77): Looks as though he needs a match or two to get back up to the pace of the game but contributed well to the defensive effort
Poole n/a (on for Monkhouse 84)
