HARTLEPOOL United have this morning completed the signings of Tommy Miller and Michael Woods with Boro’s Ryan Brobbel also joining on loan for a month from Middlesbrough.
It has been a busy Friday morning at Victoria Park but Colin Cooper now has three new signings to add to his squad for the trip to Stevenage tomorrow for the opening game of Sky Bet League Two.
As revealed by SportMail yesterday, the signings of Miller, 35, and Woods, 24, were expected with Cooper saying the pair had done enough to justify deals at the club after impressing in pre-season.
But Pools have also confirmed this morning that Hartlepool-born Ryan Brobbel has also signed for the club, on a one-month loan deal from Championship neighbours Boro.
Miller, a former Pools, Sunderland, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and Swindon Town midfielder was released by Bury in the summer and has since featured in several pre-season fixtures.
The 35-year-old, who left Pools for Ipswich in 2001 for a fee of £750,000, has more than 500 league appearances in his career and goes straight into the squad for Stevenage and will wear the Number 10 shirt.
Former Leeds and Chelsea midfielder Michael Woods featured against Bradford Park Avenue and Spennymoor Town during pre-season and also impressed Cooper in training.
The 24-year-old began his career in the youth set-up at Leeds United before moving on to Chelsea in 2006 where he spent time in the reserves prior to making his first team debut at Macclesfield Town in January 2007.
The former England Youth international moved on loan to Notts County in November 2010 and then signed non-contract terms with Yeovil Town in the summer of 2011 and Doncaster Rovers in 2012.
After a spell in non-league with Harrogate Town, Woods has come back into the Football League with Pools and will wear number 14 for Pools during the 2014-15 campaign.
Meanwhile, young winger Brobbel has joined Pools on a month-long loan deal from Middlesbrough.
The 21-year-old star linked-up with his new team-mates on Friday morning and will be included in the squad for Stevenage.
Brobbel has come through the ranks at Middlesbrough and turned professional in 2011 after impressing the hierarchy during his spell in the Academy.
He gained senior experience last term when he made 21 appearances and scored four goals during two loan stints with League Two outfit York City.
Although born in Hartlepool, Brobbel has played for Northern Ireland at junior level and went on to represent the Under 21 side at last summer’s European Championships.
Brobbel will wear the number 17 during his month-long spell at The Vic.
