DANNY Wilson today revealed Hartlepool United are hanging by the telephone in a bid to extend Kevin Kyle's loan spell as quickly as possible.
Kyle is due to play the last game of his initial one-month loan spell with Pools at Leyton Orient tomorrow (kick-off 3pm) before returning to parent club Coventry City.
Both Wilson and Kyle himself are desperate for the loan to be extended until January and Pools have been in negotiations with Coventry since last week.
No deal had been clinched at the time SportMail went to press and Wilson admitted he is eager for the negotiations to progress before Kyle's loan spell expires, with a limit on the number of short-term loans clubs can make per season.
Wilson said: "We are still waiting for some sort of feedback from Coventry.
"We have put phone calls in but at this moment in time we have not heard anything back.
"We want to do it as quickly as possible because if you let the loan lapse, it means a second loan.
"From Kevin's point of view as well, he wants to know where he is."
Kyle is set to be part of an unchanged Pools line-up at Brisbane Road, with Willie Boland (knee ligaments) still the only member of the squad on the treatment table.
