Craig Hignett has tied player of the season contender Trevor Carson to a new long-term contract at Hartlepool United.
The keeper is understood to have agreed a three-year deal at Victoria Park.
Carson, an astute summer signing by previous boss Ronnie Moore, missed the opening 15 games bevcause of injury.
But since then the ex-Sunderland stopper has been an outstanding performer and played a key role in the side's seven-game unbeatren run which catapulted Pools out of relegation trouble and into mid-table.
Carson's form also led to an international call-up last month for Northern Ireland and was on the bench for the 1-1 draw against Wales in Cardiff.
It was the fourth bit of contract business by Hignett in the space of 24 hours.
Yesterday, keeper Adam Bartlett and midfielder Lewis Hawkins penned new contracts while teenage winger Jack Blackford was offered his first pro deal
