Ronnie Moore has given the thumbs up to keeper Trevor Carson.

The Hartlepool United boss said he was more than happy with the keeper’s performance in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Barnet.

Cars has done well on the night - he made our goal for us.

Carson enjoyed a great start to his home debut when he instigated the move which ended 100 yards upfield at the Rink End with Rhys Oates putting Pools in front.

The 27-year-old made two fabulous early second-half saves from John Akinde and Michael Gash.

But Carson was beaten when he failed to get to a Barnet ball into the box and Akinde nipped in for the equaliser.

“Trev’s held up his hand,” Moore told SportMail. “He’s called for it but not got there.

“But Cars has done well on the night - he made our goal for us.

“He’s been positive, I’d rather have that than a keeper who won’t leave his line.

“Occasionally, that will happen, but he’ll save more and take the pressure off us by coming and claiming them,.

“There’s nothing better than seeing a keeper come out a retrieve a threatening ball.

“Yes, it was a mistake, but don’t forget, he’s made a couple of saves before that to keep us in it.

“No-one’s blaming him or pointing any fingers, it’s a team effort.

“On the night, we’ve had a right good go and unfortunately we couldn’t quite get the winner.

“We’ll try to make sure we take it on Saturday.”
