Hartlepool boss trying to put financial crisis to back of his mind

Harrison’s men played out a 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Chester at the Deva Stadium last night.

The kicked off a matter of hours after the news that potential investor Chris Musgrave had announced he was pulling out of the one-horse race to take the reins at Pools.

The manager and his players found out the news in the bus on the way to the ground.

But he says it did not have an impact on the preparations for the National League encounter, as he only worries about things he can control, not things out of his hands.

“Why walk with an umbrella out thinking it may rain?” said the manager.

“We heard the news before the game. We arrived and got on with our jobs. We just have to continue as we are.

“All of the off-field stuff is not for me to be involved in.

“If I worried about it all I would have no hair left, but it’s the nature of the beast, isn’t it.”

Pools head to Eastleigh on Saturday with their future less than certain.

With Musgrave out of the picture, as it stands, they will struggle to make ends meet into February.

“All we can do it hold our end of the bargain,” insisted Harrison.

“We come in, work hard and battle.

“The supporters were very appreciative of the players at the end and we cherish that.

“No one wants to be in this situation and we are. Worry about what you can’t affect and it’s pointless.

“We need to know we have kept our end of the bargain up. We aren’t in a good position at this moment in time. The fight and desire was positive. We need to keep this fight and desire.’”
