UGLY or beautiful, Mick Wadsworth admits it’s “win at any cost” time for Hartlepool United.

Six without a win and sliding down the League One ladder, under-pressure Pools welcome Colchester United to The Vic Saturday afternoon (kick off 3pm).

The squad have been locked away in their Maiden Castle war room this week as both players and staff tried to devise a battle plan to get out of their month-long slump.

SportMail revealed on Wednesday in the wake of the 4-0 defeat at Oldham Atletic the night before that Wadsworth was set to put his under-performing players through a DVD re-run of that horror show.

And the Pools boss says the response was positive with thoughts quickly turning to tomorrow’s visit of The Us – a game from which Wadsworth is desperate to pocket maximum points, regardless of how they’re achieved.

“We just need a win right now and we’ll do anything to get that,” said the first-team coach, who will be without calf-victim Neil Austin.

“Whether it’s beautiful or ugly, getting those three points is the most important thing.”
