Lewis Hawkins set Hartlepool United on their way to victory at Harrogate Railway Athletic and is looking to “carry that on” through pre-season.
The midfielder opened his goal account with a seventh-minute striked and was positive throughout the first half before he and the rest of the XI were substituted at the interval.
It opened up for me and I got my shot off and thankfully it went in.
“It’s good to get the goal,” said the 22-year-old.

“It’s been good to get the two wins and not concede a goal and hopefully we’ll carry that on through the rest of the pre-season games.
“Everyone’s settled in well and everyone’s getting on which is great.
“It was nice to be playing football again, we’ve done a lot of work on our fitness, so to play two 45 minutes each has been good and we’ve won both matches.
“The lads just want to play.”
It was a comfortable victory though Hawkins admitted it could have been better.
“The gaffer wants us to pass the ball quickly, positively and play forward,” said the midfielder.
“It stuck a bit in the grass (last night) but we did need to pass it quicker.”
