Hartlepool prospect Brad Walker has been included in the Football League’s team of emerging talent for 2015-16.
The 20-year-old midfielder has impressed so far in pre-season, with Pools boss Ronnie Moore praising the Billingham playmaker for coming back stronger and fitter.
The central midfielder broke into the first team two years ago under Colin Cooper winning rave reviews, awards and call-ups to England youth training camps.
But he struggled to make a similar impact last term, something he wants to put behind him.
And officials at the Football League have included him in a team of emerging talent ahead of the 2015-16 season getting underway a week on Saturday, with players across the divisions featuring.
The League said: “Walker has been a key member of Hartlepool United’s squad for the past two seasons, with his performances at the heart of midfield earning him a lot of admirers.
“He won the Apprentice of the Year award for League 2 in 2014 and backed up a fine breakthrough season with an even stronger showing last term.
“Walker’s form was a major reason behind Hartlepool’s dramatic survival escape, with his technical ability catching the eye and helping him to rack up five goals.”
The full team is: Daniel Bentley (Southend United), Joe Bryan (Bristol City), Alfie Mawson (Barnsley), Regan Poole (Newport County), Lewis Cook (Leeds United), Walker (Hartlepool United), Demarai Gray (Birmingham City), Ben Kennedy (Stevenage), Jordan Cousins (Charlton Athletic), Zach Clough (Bolton Wanderers), Che Adams (Sheffield United).
* Ronnie Moore is set to send a strong side to Dunston UTS for the latest pre-season friendly on Wednesday night (KO 7.30pm).
Admission prices for the game are £4 for adults and £2 for concessions, with tickets available on the turnstiles prior to kick-off at The UTS Stadium.
