The Pools frontman will team up with the side for a friendly against Estonia under-23s on Wednesday, October 10.

That date comes sandwiched between Pools' home fixture with Boreham Wood on October 6 and their trip to Leyton Orient a week later.

And the striker won't be the only representative from the North East either, with Gateshead duo Robbie Tinkler and Jon Mellish also handed opportunities in the international squad.

James has been in impressive form since returning to Victoria Park in the summer and has built up a strong partnership with fellow talisman Niko Muir.

He will now have a chance to shine in the international friendly, which will be held at Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road.

The Three Lions' C squad, managed by ex-Barnet chief Paul Fairclough, is a side formed of players who play outside the Football League and showcases the best of talent from around the National League.

Several high-profile players have previously turned out for the side in recent years, including Middlesbrough's Aden Flint.
