Hartlepool United have sent Wycombe Wanderers winger Jason Banton back to his parent club early from his loan spell.

Pools boss Ronnie Moore signed Banton in October, with the wideman expected to stay at Victoria Park until the New Year.

But Banton struggled to hold down a regular spot and with the arrival of Portsmouth winger Kal Naismith - who starred in the televised win over Leyton Orient on Sunday - Moore has decided to end the loan spell after four weeks.

During his time at The Vic, 22-year-old Banton made five substitute appearances – the last coming in the FA Cup victory over Cheltenham Town on Saturday, November 7.

A club spokesman said: "Pools would like to thank Wycombe Wanderers and Gareth Ainsworth for allowing Banton to come to the club on loan."
