FORMER Barnsley striker Rhys Oates has become Hartlepool United’s second signing of the summer.
The 20-year-old striker was released by Barnsley at the end of last season having been on the books at Oakwell since the age of six.
And Pools boss Ronnie Moore wasted no time in adding him to his squad ahead of the 2015-16 League Two campaign.
Oates made his first team debut for The Tykes last August but has also gained senior experience with loan spells at Gainsborough Trinity, Stockport County, Grimsby Town and Chester.
A club spokesman said subject to Football League approval, Oates will link-up with his new team-mates at The Vic when they report for pre-season training.
Oates follows 21-year-old striker Rakish Bingham in joining Pools this summer.
