Hartlepool United captain Billy Paynter will see a specialist this week after club officials confirmed he has a small tear in his Achilles.
The Pools skipper limped off five minutes before half-time in the recent 1-0 FA Cup first round win over Cheltenham Town and subsequently missed the 3-1 win over Leyton Orient at Victoria Park.
He has been undergoing treatment to his troublesome Achilles since.
And club physio Ian Gallagher has confirmed he will see the consultant this Friday to determine how long he will be out for.
Gallagher said: "Billy went for further investigation on Monday 9th November and the consultant discovered a small tear in his Achilles.
“The initial treatment will see Billy wearing an aircast boot and he will return to see the consultant on Friday 20th November to see how long he will need to keep this on and we will know more after that.”
