Hartlepool Utd Groundsman Dave Brown has been highly-commended for his work on the Victoria Park pitch.
Groundsman Dave missed out on the top award in League Two but has been highly-commended for his superb work on the Victoria Park playing surface.
The results of the Groundsman of the Year Awards have been revealed today, with Fleetwood Town’s Dale Frith claiming the prize in Pools’ division.
However, Brown received a certificate for his efforts which was presented to him at The Vic by boss Colin Cooper.
Cooper said: “Dave’s pitch has been a credit to him and the Club this season.”
“It’s a shame he didn’t get the top award but he doesn’t need to win trophies to show us what a great job he’s doing with the pitch at Victoria Park.
“We want to play good, attractive football and the surface that Dave and his team provide for us is brilliant and it was no surprise to see his work was highly-commended,” he added to the Hartlepool United website.
Preston North End took the League One award, while Middlesbrough’s Tony Bell was the winning Groundsman in the Championship.
The Groundsman of the Year Awards are determined initially using marks from referees and visiting managers for each league game and then followed by detailed pitch inspections and a review of management operations.
