HARTLEPOOL United have made two new additions with the loan signings of Luke Williams and Jack Barmby this morning.
Twenty-year-old Williams, from Middlesbrough, and Manchester United’s Barmby, 19, the son of former England international Nick, are both attacking midfield players, also at home on either flank, and both will go straight into Colin Cooper’s squad for this weekend’s game with York City at the Vic.
Williams, who has been handed squad number 18, has been in and around the Boro squad for the last three years but has struggled to nail down a spot in the starting 11.
He has made just four appearances this year, the last coming when he started in Middlesbrough’s FA Cup defeat to Hull City.
The second new signing, Barmby, was top scorer for United’s youth team in 2011-12 and has also been part of England squads at Under-19 level.
Boss Cooper said: “For Jack and Luke they are in place where they can say ‘here I am, I’m ready to pit my wits against some League fopotballers’.
“I have to say I’m delighted and excited to have them both in because I recognise the talent they have.
“We’ll see what it brings.
“It gives us more options.
“If we have options across the front line who are progressive and exciting, hopefully it will bring us some goals.”
Barmby has been handed the number 12 shirt.
