Hartlepool United boss Mick Wadsworth gives reserve team a verbal blast after defeat

MICK Wadsworth has left his players in no doubt as to the standards required at Hartlepool United.

Wadsworth locked them in the dressing room and delivering a verbal blast following the reserve-team defeat against Gateshead.

The first-team coach tore into Micky Barron’s side for 15 minutes in the wake of the 2-1 defeat at Victoria Park yesterday.

The players, including first-team squad members Steve Haslam, James Poole and James Brown, were muted and visibly shaken by the time they emerged for a post-game warm down.

Wadsworth, whose senior side are short on numbers following an early-season injury crisis, was there to see if any of the second string could present a case for inclusion in his side for Saturday’s League One clash at Rochdale.

That, though, now appears unlikely after Barron told SportMail the gaffer didn’t hold back in his criticism of the team.

“The manager had a real go at them, and rightly so,” he revealed.
