MICK Wadsworth has been overlooked in the League One Manager of the Month nominations – but the Pools boss is happy for his unbeaten side to slip under the radar, writes CRAIG HOPE.
Pools will set a new club record of seven unbeaten league matches from the outset of a season should they avoid defeat at Carlisle United on Saturday.
And Wadsworth has been delighted with the early-season points haul, even if he is keen to stress it is only just a start.
“There’s still some work to do but it’s nice to stay unbeaten,” he told SportMail with his side in sixth position ahead of the weekend trip to Cumbria.
“It’s a great start when you consider some of the injury problems we’ve had, but that’s all it is, a start.
“We’ve given ourselves a great platform to build on and it’s now up to us to continue the good work, keep on improving and see where it takes us.”
Wadsworth was in charge last season when his side crept to within touching distance of top spot over the Christmas period only to suffer a New Year slump and slide back down the table.
