HARTLEPOOL United taskmaster Mick Wadsworth refused his unbeaten stars the reward of a day off – insisting he’s not going to tinker with any of their winning formula.
The players had hoped they’d be afforded a lie in on Monday morning after the exertions of 3-0 weekend victory over Bury, a triumph which lifts Pools to fifth in League One.
But Wadsworth is reluctant to change the weekly schedule which has served his side so well during the opening month and a half of the campaign.
“We won’t get carried away and we’ll just keep our nose to the grindstone and keep working hard,” he told SportMail today as preparations continued for Saturday’s mammoth trek to Bournemouth.
“The players thought they might get Monday off but no chance, we’ve got to work – why change things when we’re doing well?
“We might change it when we get a loss, but not now – they understand that and they’ve been fantastic.”
Wadsworth’s boys are just four points adrift of league leaders Charlton Athletic after a club-record run of eight without loss from the opening day.
