YOU’VE done your job, now we’ll do ours.
That was the message from Mick Wadsworth to the Hartlepool United supporters today after they took the club’s season-ticket sales to a staggering 4573.
The figure is a new record for Pools and, with the price of tickets now guaranteed at an unprecedented £100, that number is expected to rise over the next week following the extension of the original deadline.
And now first-team coach Wadsworth has vowed to give those fans something to cheer about during the coming campaign.
“What an incentive we have to do well next season,” he told SportMail as the Pools squad settled back into their Maiden Castle base after a week away in Holland.
“It was just wonderful news when we heard the 4,000 figure had been passed.
“I expect there’ll be a few more sales over the next couple of days as well.
“With away fans on top we’re looking at playing in front of some very good crowds next season and that can only benefit the team.
“Now we have to make sure we’re in the best possible shape for the start of the season and give the fans a product on the pitch which they can enjoy.”
