Hartlepool United's Craig Harrison reacts to Chester draw as run stretches to 10 games without a win

Hartlepool United boss Craig Harrison feels like he's a "broken record" talking about his players' errors.

But he did see cause for hope from Pools performance, even though he feels like it was two points dropped rather than one gained.

"To go ahead again and be pegged back is disappointed, it’s a broken record," said the manager.

"Loachy [Scott Loach] made some good saves on the bounce and they put us under set-play pressure, but we’ve not had a save to make again later.

"It's all if, but and maybes. Where would we be if we could hold the lead? We could be 15 points better off. Every point is a positive one at this moment in time."

One thing that was very noticeable from the encounter was Pools change in style.

Rather than play with just Jake Cassidy up top, they went with Devante Rodney up there, too, in a 4-4-2.

Harrison was happy with the experiment.

He explained: "We played a bit more direct, making sure we worked the ball forward quicker.

"Playing 4-4-2 tonight, Devante and Cass worked well together. They did well without really having much time in training to work on it. We will do that in the coming days.

"Tomi (Adeloye) had a chance to win it late on, and a point is positive for us in this situation. No negativity in my mind at all. Let’s go on and get three points on Saturday."

Having had their commitment questioned after the abject home loss to Wrexham at the Vic on Saturday, Harrison was pleased with the fight shown by his side at the Deva Stadium.

"We won the majority of 50-50s and battles," he said.

"If we have to battle we will. It could have been nice to come here and win and we take a point.

"We need a base to work on - we have three away games in a row, we need grit and determination.

"We need all the points we can and every team will have a spell against you.

“We defended that spell well, but conceded later."
