Those were the words of an emotional Scott Flinders as, on the due date of his first child, the goalkeeper scored his first-ever professional goal.
That the injury-time equaliser, during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, came after what Flinders described as “the worst performance of my career”, merely added to the magic of the story.
For the Pools No.1 had been culpable for The Cherries’ second goal, allowing Donal McDermott’s shot to squirm through his grasp and over the line in the first half.
