Craig Hignett sent out a strong Hartlepool United side for the final match of pre-season against Scunthorpe United.

Hignett was boosted by the fact central defender Toto Nsiala has overcome an ankle injury but partner Matthew Bates missed out through illness. Rob Jones joins the former DR Congo international at the heart of defence.

Carl Magnay started at right-back with the only other change to the side which won 6-0 at Guisborough being Nicky Deverdics coming into midfield after Nicky Featherstone missed out with a groin problem.

Padraig Amond and Billy Paynter were paired up front as they were at Guisborough and were again joined Lewis Alessandra.

Nathan Thomas was named on the bench after recovering from a knock.

Triallists Liam Donnelly and Scott Harrison were among the substitutes.
