JAMES Poole admits he and his attacking comrades must rediscover their goalscoring touch if Hartlepool United are to stand any chance of avoiding the drop.

Pools are without score in four matches heading into tonight’s League One basement showdown at Oldham Athletic.

Poole has mixed memories of his last trip to Boundary Park, the joy of a match-winning goal tempered by a hamstring injury which near enough ended his season.

But the striker, who celebrates his 23rd birthday tomorrow, insists he will be drawing on the positives this evening, conceding that he and his colleagues need to hit the goals trail.

“Us front lads have a massive part to play in keeping us up but we need to get going again,” Poole told SportMail.

“I remember the last time there, a 1-0 win and I got an early goal – I wouldn’t mind a repeat of that.”
