Hartlepool United have thanked The Friends of HUFC 1908 for coming to the rescue of groundstaff and replacing tools stolen in a recent break-in.

Pools was targeted by thieves back in May when a number of items were taken and left staff without the tools needed for vital renovation work at Victoria Park.

Members of the Friends of HUFC group donated £300 for replacements and supporter Peter Gooding made a donation of a selection of tools to help with maintenance work.

The fans have been thanked by the club, with their generous donation allowing work at the stadium to continue ahead of the new campaign.

Pools chief executive Mark Maguire said: "We’re really thankful to the Friends for stepping up to help us.

"The donations brought us completely up to date, meaning the boys can continue their work preparing for the new season."

In the past the Friends of HUFC 1908 have donated a shelter for fans in the Town End and some picnic-style benches for use at The Vic on matchdays.
