Hartlepool United throw support behind brand new East Durham College academy

Hartlepool United have pledged their support for the new football academy set up by East Durham College.

The college grounds was recently unveiled as Pools' new training base for all age groups from their academy through to the first team.

And as part of this link up the college have introduced a new academy setup, coached by the likes of former Pools player Gus Di Lella and Darren Holloway.

Not only will the players be able to continue their education at the college, they will also benefit from training alongside the Pools' stars, will receive coaching from UEFA-qualified coaches, get free training kit jointly branded East Durham College and Hartlepool United, access to an on-site physio and incentivised tickets for HUFC home fixtures.

Hartlepool's chief executive Mark Maguire, said: "This is a fantastic initiative which further cements our partnership with EDC.

"It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that we will spot players who will then be asked to come across to our Academy set up - our staff will certainly be closely watching the players.

"The coaching delivered by EDC is exceptional and it will be a great day when the first EDC squad member pulls on a First Team shirt at Victoria Park."
