MICK Wadsworth admits he will make changes for tomorrow’s league showdown at Leyton Orient – because if he didn’t fans would have every right to “jump up and down and ask why?”.
Last weekend’s 4-0 drubbing at the hands of league leaders Charlton Athletic was the heaviest of the season so far.
It was a performance which prompted a players’ meeting earlier in the week and the squad have been forced to sit through a DVD re-run of the 14 goals they’ve conceded in the last five matches.
Wadsworth was keeping tight-lipped when he spoke to SportMail today about the identity of those players who will find themselves out of the side for the game at Brisbane Road, but he did admit there will be a new approach.
“If you asked any of the players who has done well and who hasn’t recently then I think you’d get an honest answer because there are a few of them disappointed with themselves,” he said.
“From the last couple of games it would be easy to leave any player out, and the lads know that.
“But you can’t do that because if you make wholesale changes it’s hard to keep track of what is good, bad or indifferent.
“We’ve got to make logical changes and do it in pieces to get the right blend and we will make some changes tomorrow because I think we have to.
“If I named the same team with the same format then our fans would be jumping up and down asking ‘what the flippin heck is he doing?’ – and I’d be the same.”
