Hartlepool Utd playing for their futures ahead of Yeovil clash

NEALE Cooper has delivered a forthright reminder to his players, declaring: “This season isn’t over – you’re playing for your future.”

With just eight games remaining before the curtain comes down on a campaign of highs and lows, Pools find themselves, perhaps predictably, in a mid-table standing which is unlikely to affect matters at either end of the table.

Tomorrow takes them to Yeovil Town as they bid to correct a run of five without a win and, worryingly, six hours and 50 minutes without a goal.

A high number of the current squad will be out of contract this summer and, above concerns aside, Cooper insists they have to prove they’re worthy of a new deal come May.

“This season definitely isn’t over – it’s up to the players now to prove to me they should be part of my plans,” he told SportMail today before boarding the team bus for Somerset.

“There’s a few contracts up in the summer and they have to perform.

“If they don’t then they know what happens.

“It’s a challenge for players – come and show me you are worth a new deal.”
