CONNOR Smith admits he is desperate to get back to work at Hartlepool United after turning professional.

The 17-year-old winger had already made nine first team appearances for the Sky Bet League Two side before last week turning pro, alongside Kieran Green, 18.

Being in and around the senior squad has only made Smith more determined to press his claims to become a first team regular under Ronnie Moore.

And he is looking forward to a summer of hard work before returning to pre-season training in July.

“I had a taste of first team football last season and it does make you hungry for more,” said Smith.

“I want to play as many games as I can and hopefully keep on improving.

“I also want to score my first goal for the club, I’ve had a couple of glimpses previously but the more I play hopefully the luckier I get.

“I hope the fans have already seen that I play with my heart on my sleeve and that’s what I will continue to do so hopefully it will help me catch the manager’s eye,” added Smith, who was talking to the club’s website.
