EVAN Horwood looks set to be part of Mick Wadsworth’s starting XI shake-up this weekend – and the defender insists he’s back for good.
Pools chief Wadsworth is set to ring the changes for Saturday’s visit of Wycombe Wanderers having felt let down by Sunday’s woeful showing in the 3-0 defeat at Notts County.
Horwood has found himself out of the side since returning from injury earlier this month, despite smashing the late winner at Bournemouth in his comeback match.
The 25-year-old had started the first seven matches of the season before succumbing to the effects of a dead leg suffered in the second league match of the campaign at home to Walsall.
He was introduced after 50 minutes against the Magpies at the weekend, having been brought on at half-time during the defeat against Sheffield Wednesday eight days previous, and on both occasions he caught the eye.
Horwood now looks certain to start in two days’ time when Pools return to Victoria Park, and he told SportMail he’s determined to stay in the team should that recall come about.
“The opportunity came for other players when I got injured so if that chance comes for me, for whatever reason, I’ve got to take it,” said the Pools-born ace.
