MARLON Harewood and Michael Woods saw red as Hartlepool United drew 1-1 with Mansfield Town in Sky Bet League Two.
The first half was desperate as Junior Brown gave Mansfield a 10th minute lead but Pools came out a different side second-half.
Michael Duckworth drew level in the 51st minute in an action-packed second-half.
Mansfield’s Ryan Tafazolli saw red for a second yellow in the 72nd minute before Pools then had two sent off.
First Harewood for an innocuous looking collision with Jamie Maguire and then Woods saw red with moments left, picking up his second yellow.
Pools boss Ronnie Moore made one change with Michael Duckworth returning to the side after a groin injury, he replaced Sidney Schmeltz on the right flank.
Moore kept faith with Marlon Harewood and Joe Ironside up front as he looked to secure the club’s fourth league win of the season.
Pools were expecting an aireal battle and that is exactly what they got early on with The Stags targeting burly frontman Matt Rhead up front.
But they took the lead in the 10th minute with a slick move on the floor made all too easy by further sloppy defending from Pools.
Junior BROWN picked the ball up 25-yards from goal, cut inside and played a one-two with Vadaine Oliver before he was then given too much time and space to roll it under Scott Flinders.
Pools felt aggrieved as they had a penalty shout turned down just seconds before, Michael Duckworth looked to have been clipped by Brown as he blazed a wayward effort wide.
But referee Scott Mathieson wasn’t interested and Brown made them pay with the opening goal.
Pools carved out a couple of half chances, with Joe Ironside and Dan Jones header over and Marlon Harewood screwing wide in a good position.
But they failed to test Dimitar Evtimov in the Stags goal.
Mansfield put Flinders’ defence under constant pressure with long, probing balls and Rhead had a goalbound header cleared off the line by Darren Holden moments before the break.
Half-Time: Mansfield: 1 Pools: 0
Pools started the second-half with greater intent, Michael Woods combining well with Harewood and Ironside on the edge of the area before shooting low past the post.
They got the equaliser their positive play deserved in the 51st minute.
Harewood - almost in slow motion - held the ball and laid it off to Duckworth who bounced home the equaliser to cue mad celebrations from the travelling Pools fans.
Mansfield were then immediately denied what looked like a goal.
Rhead’s header down was fumbled by Flinders and it looked like it had crossed the line before Duckworth cleared, Brown then flashed the ball across the face of goal but nobody was there to tap it home.
The atmosphere and standard of play cranked up as both sides looked for a Boxing Day win.
Mansfield were reduced to 10-men in the 72nd minute, Tafazolli shown his second yellow of the afternoon for a tug back on Ironside’s shirt.
Mathieson had no doubt as he produced the red.
In the 87th minute the numbers were levelled up with Harewood shown a straight red after he landed on Jamie MaGuire in the penalty area.
It was unclear what the red was for but it was given after a chat with the linesman.
Pools came under late pressure, with Bingham and Oliver testing Flinders’ handling.
Woods then got his second yellow to see red in the dying moments of the charge, stupidly wrestling for the ball when the free-kick had been given.
Pools held firm to secure a point at Field Mill.
