MIDDLESBROUGH forward Luke Williams has joined Coventry City on loan.

The 21-year-old – who spent time with Scunthorpe United earlier this season – will spend the rest of the campaign at the Ricoh Arena.

Williams had a loan spell at Hartlepool United last season, scoring twice in seven appearances.

The England Under-20 international has made 34 appearances so far for Middlesbrough, and will now try to help Coventry stay in League One.

Coventry manager Steven Pressley told the club’s official website: “We’re delighted to welcome Luke to the club and he will give another valuable option going forward.

“As I’ve said in recent weeks, I want to see my side score more goals and I’m sure by bringing Luke in until the end of the season, it will help us achieve that aim.

“He is another young and hungry player that will bring good energy to the squad.”

Coventry are 19th in the League One table, three points above the relegation zone.

They have won just one of their last eight games in the league, and travel to Preston on Saturday.
