ON-LOAN Newcastle United stopper Freddie Woodman will return to the Hartlepool United squad after a successful week away with England Under-19s.

Sean O’Driscoll’s side made it three wins from three in their European Championship first qualifying round campaign with a 4-2 defeat of Belgium in Luxembourg and the 17-year-old keeper was between the sticks.

England Under-19s had already advanced to the next stage, thanks to victories over Belarus and Luxembourg, but they secured a 100 per cent record with victory over Belgium.

After helping to play his part, highly-rated Woodman will now return to the Pools squad for their Sky Bet League Two match at home to Luton Town on Saturday.

Woodman joined Pools on a month’s loan from Newcastle in mid-September and will stay with the side until Tuesday, October 21.

The successful week in Luxembourg means O’Driscoll’s side have comfortably qualified for the elite qualifying round next spring.

The draw for which takes place in Nyon on December 3.
