HARTLEPOOL United will continue to run the rule over former Newcastle United starlet Dennis Knight after his man-of-the-match showing for the club’s reserves.
The 19-year-old was released by the Magpies earlier this month and has been training with Pools for the past 10 days.
Yesterday he enjoyed his first taste of competitive action in blue and white and duly caught the eye with two goals in the 4-1 win over Grimsby Town – the first a close-range tap-in and the second a thunderous free-kick from range.
And second-string coach Micky Barron was impressed by the frontman amid the blizzards at Billingham Town’s Bedford Terrace.
“He’s got talent, you can see that,” Barron told SportMail.
“He gets in good positions and knows how to play that No.10 role really well.”
