No bad apples at Hartlepool, insists Ronnie Moore

Ronnie Moore has been impressed with the focus shown by his Hartlepool squad as they embark on a four-day Army boot camp.

The Pools camp have left the comforts of their Maiden Castle training base to continue their pre-season preparations at Catterick Garrison.

From what I have seen they are a very focused group.

Moore, the players and backroom staff are staying at Catterick for the next four days and will be split into three teams to carry out a series of tough exercises.

The trip follows a week of intense fitness sessions at their Durham base last week – and boss Moore has been impressed with the efforts of his troops so far.

Moore said: “We’ve got plenty of new faces in the squad and a few trialists as well so it’s always hard but they are blending together well already.

“Footballers are generally the same wherever you go and there are very few bad apples – and we certainly don’t have any at this football club.

“From what I have seen they are a very focused group.

“They know when to have a laugh and a joke but when it comes down to working hard they have given their all and that’s all you can ask so long may it continue.

“Obviously we’re still on the lookout to boost our squad with a couple of wingers which will help us as the season goes along but I’m really pleased and encouraged by what I’ve seen from the players who are already here.”
