Macclesfield Town manager John Askey is hoping his side can keep up their lucky streak, with Hartlepool at Moss Rose tonight.

The Silkmen pulled off one of the performances of the opening weekend by beating Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.

And Askey admits his side had to ride their luck in sealing the win, against one of the division big boys.

The boss admits he’d be delighted to see his side produce a repeat performance, with another one of the National League’s big hitters in town.

“We made the perfect start,” said Askey.

“We were a bit lucky at times but the result was just the start you want to a season.
“We have Hartlepool next, one of two home games, and we hope it continues.

“As a team we know we will need a bit of luck again but that’s football.”

Considering it has been seen as a summer of ins and outs at Pools, Macclesfield have remarkably brought in 16 players so far in pre-season, including the late loan addition of Adam Yeates from Port Vale.

Askey is pleased with how his squad have gelled, despite such little time to bring such a new group together.

“It’s early days but we do only have four players from the group we had last year,” said the boss.

“You just never know how things will work or how players will react but it went well for us at the weekend. Now it is on to Hartlepool.”

On the injury front Askey says he has no fresh concerns ahead of Pools visit, with summer signing Jared Hodgkiss missing with a groin problem.

Askey said: “The squad is looking good again.
“It was just bad luck last week, we were 30 seconds away from finishing the last training session of the week before the game and Jared pulled his groin.”

Pools fans can purchase tickets for the game on the day.

Seated tickets for adults are priced at £19, with standing £15, concessions £15/£10, U25s £5, U12s £3.
