Pools have signed Luton Town’s Magnus Okuonghae on loan from Luton Town.
The 29-year-old joined the Hatters in the summer after spending six years at Colchester United, where he made more than 200 appearances.
But Okuonghae has mae just two appearances for The Hatters this season, both in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Hartlepool boss Ronnie Moore has made no secret of the fact that he has been in the market for an experienced defender.
Moore was at Kenilworth Road recently to watch Okuonghae in action first-hand and said he was impressed with what he saw.
“He is strong and powerful, dominant in the air and he can be a leader,” said the Pools boss.
“The game I went to was a Reserve fixture and you could clearly hear him on the pitch organising his team-mates; that vocal quality and know-how is exactly what we’re after so we’re delighted to get him.”
Okuonghae, who has joined Pools for an initial one-month loan, completed the paperwork at the team hotel on Friday night ahead of the game at Dagenham & Redbridge.
He has been handed squad number 29 and should join fellow new boys Luke Hendrie and Jason Banton in the squad for Saturday, subject to Football League clearance.
