HARTLEPOOL United striker Steve Howard has played his last game in the club’s League One relegation scrap after joining Sheffield Wednesday on loan.
The 36-year-old will remain with The Owls until the end of the campaign.
Howard had appeared 30 times for Pools this term, scoring just three goals, following a summer switch from Leicester City.
He could now appear for the Championship outfit against Barnsley this weekend.
Meanwhile, Howard’s exit could yet free up funds for Pools boss John Hughes to bring in a replacement striker before this evening’s 5pm loan deadline.
