HARTLEPOOL United chiefs are celebrating after season ticket sales topped the 1,000 mark.
The Sky Bet League Two club reached the landmark figure for the 2014-15 season earlier on Friday afternoon during another encouraging day of business at Victoria Park, say officials.
The ticket office opened yesterday morning with 891 season ticket’s sold for the new campaign but by 2.30pm that number had rocketed in to four-figures.
Unsuspecting Pools fan Stephen McBean was thrilled to learn he had snapped up ticket number 1,000 – buying 1,001 as well to give to his young grandson.
Stephen, a pipe-fitter from Seaton Carew, said: “I’ve been a season ticket holder more years than I can remember now so I was always going to renew.
“It’s another great offer from the club so I’ve come down and got my seat in the Cyril Knowles Stand and though I’d get one for my six-year-old grandson too who came a few times last season and loved it.
“Hopefully we can have a better season than we did last year but I’m encouraged with what Colin Cooper has done so far and I’m always a believer in giving managers the time they need to build.”
Pools are offering adult season tickets for just £180 before the early bird deadline on July 8 while there are also deals in place for students, senior citizens, Under 19s and Under 13s.
