HARTLEPOOL United suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at the hands of Northampton Town in Sky Bet League Two.

SportMail’s Richard Mennear gives his player ratings below along with #TerraceTweets from unhappy Pools fans.

Player Ratings:

Scott Flinders: 5. Wasn’t really at fault for any of the goals but will not have been happy to have conceded five. Was constantly bawling at defence.

Stuart Parnaby: 4. A night to forget. Gave away a penalty and was at fault for at least two other goals. Poor display and was later subbed.

Matthew Bates: 5. Had impressed last two matches but not last night. Defence was all over the place.

Scott Harrison: 5. Similar to Bates, had been so commanding in recent matches. Won his share of headers last night but defence was poor.

Neil Austin: 5. Torrid time down the left-hand side. Chris Hackett got a hat-trick of assists from the left wing.

Ryan Brobbel: 6. MOM. Worked hard all night and didn’t stop running or trying to run at defenders.

Brad Walker: 5. Game passed him by far too easily. Needs to do more.

Tommy Miller: 5. Provided the assist for Wyke but midfield was overran too easily.

Jack Compton: 5. Didn’t do a great deal to influence the game. Pools were second best to everything all night.

Jonathan Franks: 5. Feeding off scraps again. Hard night for Franks up front.

Charlie Wyke: 6. Only played 28 minutes but arguably a contender for MOM. Took his goal really well and looked sharp before being knocked out.

Marlon Harewood: 5. Wasn’t good enough last night and should be winning more headers and holding ball up better.

Jordan Richards: 6. Very unlucky to have been dropped. Came on when it was 5-1.
