RONNIE Moore has slammed his “gutless” Hartlepool United squad after the 2-0 home defeat to Morecambe.

Defeat leaves Pools eight points adrift at the bottom of Sky Bet League Two with a goal difference of -26.

A Jack Redshaw double secured the win for Morecambe, the midfielder scoring in either half at Victoria Park as Pools fell to their 15th league defeat of the season.

Moore said: “It was gutless.

“You can see why we are where we are.

“Except for young Dan Jones at the back that is as bad a performance at home I have seen.

“Where is the desire and commitment to chase and harry?

“Every game we have come off and I have said the same thing.

“I can’t blame the crowd for having a go at the players.

“It is the first time I have looked at them and thought no wonder we are where we are.”

Redshaw opened the scoring in the 22nd with a curling shot past Scott Flinders to give the Shrimps a half-time lead.

The game was over in the 81st minute when Redshaw netted his and Morecambe’s second of the match.

Morecambe caught Moore’s side on the break and Redshaw combined with sub Kevin Ellison before tucking home the second.

Pools were desperate and their performance left the manager raging.

Moore added: “I am the manager of this football club and I can’t have that.”
