Hartlepool United have completed a deal for Jonathan Franks – but face a race against time to get international clearance which frees him up to play this weekend.

Franks has been training with Pools for the last few weeks, following his release by Ross County.

And, with Harrison keen to add another winger to his ranks, following the departure of Nathan Thomas, the manager has moved to land the former Middlesbrough man.

But, Pools are yet to get the relevant papers released by his former club, given that this classes as a cross border transfer.

“He can carry the ball and has trickery,” said Harrison.

“He is maybe the type of out and out winger we do not have at the club.”

Meanwhile, Harrison has set a return date for key injured duo Luke George and Rhys Oates.

The pair have returned to training at the club’s Durham University base, but are still some way off being ready for action, according to Harrison.

And the manager says he believes the Maidstone United game – at Victoria Park on September 2 – is a realistic date for Oates and new boy George to return.

“They won’t be ready for the weekend,” said Harrison.

“I’d say more for the Maidstone game. It’s important after they both broke down twice that their rehab is done right and we get them right.”

Left-back Blair Adams will also miss out tomorrow.
