COLIN Cooper has made three changes to his Hartlepool United team for tonight’s Capital One Cup first round clash at Port Vale.

Michael Woods and Ryan Brobbel make their full debuts for Pools, while Jonathan Franks has also been drafted into the side.

Cooper has named an attacking line-up and Pools will play a 4-3-3 formation, with Franks, James and Brobbel the front three.

Dropping down to the bench is Marlon Harewood and Jack Compton while Stuart Parnaby misses out altogether after picking up a slight knock to his foot at the weekend.

League Two Pools take on League One side Port Vale, managed by Micky Adams, at Vale Park.

On-loan goalkeeper Joel Dixon has not been allowed to play in tonight’s fixture by parent club Sunderland. Young keeper Jonathan Barber takes his place on the bench.

Pools boss Cooper has kept faith with the same defence, playing in front of Scott Flinders who impressed in the weekend 1-0 defeat at Stevenage.
