HARTLEPOOL United returned to the town this week when they trained at the new Sports Domes at Seaton Carew, writes CRAIG HOPE.

John Hughes led his squad during yesterday’s session as they prepared for today’s visit of MK Dons (kick-off 3pm).

And Pools, who routinely train at Maiden Castle in Durham, could be set for a permanent return to their hometown.

Brian Morton, chief executive of Sports Domes, explained: “It was terrific watching them train.

“The quality of the facilities has attracted them here and we hope it can become a permanent thing.

“We’re in talks with the club and I would love to see them come back to the town on a full-time basis.

“I think it’s important to have that connection with your own town and let’s hope it happens.”
