Hartlepool United face trip to Harrogate Town in FA Trophy first round all National League tie

Hartlepool United will travel to Harrogate Town in the first round of the FA Trophy following Monday afternoon’s draw.

The tie will take place on Saturday 14 December at the CNG Stadium, just under a fortnight before Pools make the same trip in the National League on Boxing Day.

Hartlepool haven’t had much luck in cup draws so far this season with their FA Cup first and second round ties taking them to Yeovil Town (twice) and Exeter City respectively.

And despite getting another away draw, it’s a fairly local one for Pools as they make the short journey south to their closest fifth tier rivals. Still, United couldn’t beat Harrogate in the two meetings between the sides last season as the sides drew 2-2 at Victoria Park before Town claimed a 3-1 home win.

New manager Dave Challinor could be keen for a good Trophy run after winning the competition with former club AFC Fylde last season.
