Josh Hawkes 'ready if needed' as he eyes return to Hartlepool United starting line-up against Aldershot Town
The 20-year-old hasn’t started a match for Pools since the 4-1 Boxing Day defeat at Harrogate Town as he suffered a groin injury and suspected hernia.
But he is now back in contention after marking his return to the first team picture with a brief substitute appearance in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Barnet.

Hide AdWith Gavan Holohan being suspended for this weekend’s match against Aldershot, Dave Challinor is looking for players who are ready to take the opportunity presented to them.
While there are a number of midfielders competing to fill Holohan’s position in the side, Hawkes will be hoping history will repeat itself after marking his return to the starting line-up earlier in the campaign with a goal against Aldershot in the 3-0 win at the EBB Stadium.
And the Pools midfielder is ready to take the opportunity to impress under Challinor.
“I’d like to think the gaffer could put me back in the team but that’s his choice and it’s up to him,” Hawkes told BBC Radio Tees Sport Extra.

“It’s up to the gaffer what shape he goes with and who he wants to put in the team – I’m obviously ready if I’m needed.”
