Hartlepool maintained their recent climb up the Wearside League with a comfortable 3-0 win at Boldon CA last night.
They took a two-goal lead inside 24 minutes thanks to Alex Marshall and Ashley Clark.
Just before the end, Carl O’Sullivan added a third goal and Pool are now in the top six.
Horden CW suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Cleator Moor Celtic, for whom Craig Scott scored the opening goal.
The Colliers were always in with a chance until the last minute when Luke Close cemented the Cumbrians’ win.
Despite scoring three times at home, Norton and Stockton Ancients still lost to North Shields in the Ebac Northern League First Division game.
The Robins quickly established a two-goal lead through David Coulson and Dan Wilson, but Norton rallied and went in level at the interval, courtesy of Thibault Charmey, with a piledriver from outside the area, and Matthew Pennal.
Ben Richardson restored the Robins’ lead, only for Norton’s Jamie Poole to equalise from the spot. North Shields, though, took all three points with late goals from Gary Ormston and James Luccock.
