Leeds United players celebrate their fourth goal against Middlesbrough.

Goals from Patrick Bamford, Helder Costa and a brace from Mateusz Klich saw the hosts run out comfortable 4-0 winners against an injury-stricken Boro side who had to bring on two debutants under difficult circumstances.

The result means it’s just one win in 11 for Jonathan Woodgate, with many questioning his credentials after such a poor run.

Others, though, still feel sympathetic and believe the manager can only do so much given the difficult situation.

Here’s how some fans reacted on social media:

@BlainAllinson96: Didn’t expect anything tbf it’s the manner of the defeat & the lack of leadership from woodgate and above that’s the issue for me ... seems like a rudderless ship atm unfortunately

@TimTroy1: The mismanaged parachute payments, recruitment and 3 managers on three seasons all contribute. Woodgate given an absolute hospital pass and with a lack of experience and knowhow on how to operate on a budget or improve players this was always going to happen.

@smoggyontour86: Can Woodgate motivate the players he has, I don’t think he can, they look like headless chickens on pitch. Cant keep losing games.

@Jordan_Lowrie: Do we sack woodgate and keep going on a manager merry go round, I don't blame woodgate I blame Gibson and his team around him! Shot woodgate under the bus! Poor from Gibson and co, he's boro's golden boy but he can be held accountable for this mess.

@daviepearson24: Woodgate is out his depth he has a number 2 in Robbie Keane who was a mint striker but has no experience or tactical brain for woodgate to lean on, I get us boro fans have mixed feelings about karanka but the bloke made us a solid team there is very little heart in this team

@LilyquinnXx: If you’re calling for woodgate out have a word with yourself. The clubs skint with an owner that won’t invest anymore. Woodgate was the cheaper option and he’s doing what he can with what he has. Maybe we need go down to have a shake up and go again. Boro till I die

@iRussJ: Absolutely gutted but fair play to Leeds. They are currently everything we are not and deserve their form. It wasn’t long ago that it was roles reversed and we were battering them at the Riverside. When you have given it out, you have to be able to take it.

@markwright1967: Nothing Woodgate can do about that. Boro looked like a team running in quicksand. Keeper did well cos could have been worse.

@Digital_Den15: Woodgate is tactically clueless, "Leeds deserved to win, they were a lot better than us, their squad is better than ours", yes we know, which is where you need better tactics, Luton held them for 90 mins, and their team/squad are no worse than ours.

@LeeWModaSports: Woodgate is so far out of his depth it's unreal. The club talks every year about project and future but we have actually gone back 30 years this squad reminds me of the 89/90 squad which nearly got relegated from old div 2. Lack depth and quality with overpaid mediocre seniors.
