Aitor Karanka has made Brad Guzan is NINTH summer signing and his second top-line goalkeeper.
The Aston Villa stopper’s arrival has been expected for a number of days and today he put pen to paper on a two-year contract.
Guzan follows Barcelona legend and former Man United goalie Victor Valdes through the Riverside entrance.
But it means that Dimi Konstantopoulos or Tomas Mejias are now likely to be heading for the exit, either on loan or permanent transfers.
Ex-Hartlepool United promotion winner Konstantopoulos was one of the star’s of last season’s promotion success from the Sky Bet Championship, while Mejias played in the cup competitions.
The pair have featured heavily in pre-season but are unlikely to be included when the Premier League season starts next month.
Like Valdes, Guzan brings a wealth of experience, having represented the United States 50 times and made almost 150 appearances for Villa.
Ironically, the 31-year-old could make his Boro debut today AT Villa Park, where Boro take on the relegated club in a pre-season friendly.
